For Her Hair
I think I've come up with a good idea for the "tiara" for my daughter's princess costume. I am using a fake pearl necklace (18"), a spray of artificial flowers, white tulle and ribbon. Here is the work in progress:
I'm tying little bits of tulle on the necklace, then stringing ribbon through the holes in the flowers and tying them on too. I tied some ribbon onto the ends of the necklace and that ribbon will tie at the back of my daughter's head. I still need to add some more tulle and some silver ribbon (to match the silver ribbon on the dress), and it should be ready to wear. I did go ahead and put it on my daughter at this "in process" stage to be sure it would stay on, and it seemed to stay put for at least a few minutes. I'm sure she will be trying to yank it off after about ten minutes of wearing it, but hopefully she will keep it on long enough Friday to get a good picture of her in full costume.
I did get the dress finished yesterday (HOORAH)! The last step is to make the gauntlets. I don't think they will get done today, though, because I'm not feeling too good right now and am going to go take a nap with the kids. I think my all day sickness has turned into evening sickness. It seems that from about 4:00 on until I go to bed I am just really nauseated these days. Of course, this means the mornings are MUCH better, for which I am thankful. Hopefully there will only be a few more weeks of feeling queasy!

Making Progress!
I am making progress on the Halloween princess dress. I just got the two overskirts attached to the bodice!
Next to do:
- gather and attach skirt
- insert zipper
- make sash
- make gauntlets
I also need to come up with some sort of crown or princess wand to go with the dress. It also just occurred to me that I haven't given any thought to the shoes that my daughter will wear with this dress. All of her shoes that fit at the moment happen to be pink. I think the dress is going to be so long, though, that the shoes won't show very much. I hope so, anyways, because I'm not going shopping for princess shoes this week.
Time to get back to sewing!

A HUGE Project!
So, it's been almost a month since I posted. I do have a valid excuse - I've been busy working on a big project, and it has been making me so tired and sick that I haven't had the energy for working on any other projects. What on earth could be so time consuming? Well, take a look:
Yep! We're expecting baby number three in late May or early June 2009!! I have been doing no sewing or crafting in the last month because I've been feeling so sick. I've got my daughter's Halloween dress in four pieces in the sewing room just waiting to be finished, and I've not the energy to tackle it. My 19th month old's new favorite activity is pretending to throw up - how bad is that? She will get a bowl out of the cabinet and hold her head over it and pretend to gag. YIKES! Hopefully the sickness will subside as the pregnancy goes on. In the meantime I've GOT to find some energy to finish that dress!
